Having read a biography of Stephen Foster many years ago, I remember he was described as being a gentleman. Maybe that's why this wonderful cat has his name. He's truly a gentleman.
Stephen Foster was adopted as a kitten from Animal Friends. Nine years later, he's back with us. Sadly, somebody in his family developed allergies. Stephen is front declawed, which makes him a little nervous. Being declawed can make a cat feel vulnerable and defensive. He's surrounded by cats and knows he's the only one here without claws.
In his home Stephen was always a tad skittish. But that doesn't make him any less lovable. We think he'd like a nice quiet home with no small children or other animals. Once he adjusts to a new home and bonds with his people, he'll do just fine. Stephen uses his litterbox and never has accidents.
He loves a good lap, but turn him loose on a toy with a bell and you'll see his inner kitten. He can pretend he's at The Camptown races. When he's done, it's onto the lap for some ear rubbing. After a good purr session comes a good meal, then it's nap time. It's time for you to go to bed because he likes to cuddle when he sleeps. Maybe he'll Dream of Jeannie with the Light Brown Hair.
Regardless of how many songs the first Stephen Foster wrote, one of his most famous was My Old Kentucky Home. Stephen, the cat, doesn't need to go to Kentucky to find a good home. He knows there's one here. His new family just needs to come & get him.
